It was truly rewarding to donate $1000 (740 meals) to @interfaithfoodpantry , a leader committed to fighting hunger in Morris County for over 25 years. IFPN distributed an impressive 2.3 million pounds of food — the equivalent of 2.1 million meals— over the course of 2024
Several hours of commitment creating 35 handmade cards each week since the summer of 2024 felt especially meaningful, knowing this contribution would directly nourish our community.

Table to Table I-Rescue App allows volunteers to help rescue and deliver fresh food to neighbors facing food insecurity. In 2023, a volunteer base of more than 250 collected a total of nearly 1.3 million pounds of fresh food, providing more than 1 million nutritious meals.

I had the privilege of interviewing Ms. Kaitlin McGuinness, Senior Project Specialist in U.S. Senator Cory Booker’s office, and learning about Senator Booker’s unwavering commitment to empowering farmers, addressing food insecurity, and championing urban farming. In his book United, Senator Booker even dedicates a chapter to celebrating the Hawthorne Avenue Urban Farm.
Visiting the farm (which is sadly closing soon) and meeting Ms. Abigail Martone, Director of Urban Agriculture & Food Initiatives at Greater Newark Conservancy last summer, was an unforgettable experience. Established in 2012, the farm’s mission has been to provide Newark residents with sustainably grown, fresh, and local produce. The farm features 250 raised garden beds for community use, an orchard with over 120 fruit trees, and 75 rows of fruits and vegetables.

One of the cards I am working on features dewy rose petals that adorn a delicate silk dress, evoking a blend of feminine charm and modern allure.
It was a privilege to interview Dr. Phillip R. Smith, Assistant Dean of Students, Student Basic Needs, at Rutgers University — New Brunswick. My virtual meeting and visit to the Rutgers Student Pantry revealed the alarming extent of food insecurity rampant on the campus but also highlighted the university’s remarkable efforts to tackle this pressing issue.

My experience with Good Intentions and my involvement with various pantries allowed me to offer practical insights into the real-world challenges of food distribution.

Mrs. Clark invited me to collaborate on a extraordinary project for the 2022 Red Oaks Virtual Auction. Two of my floral cards were converted into digital images and sent to a fabric printing company in Denmark, where my art was printed onto 10 silk & cashmere scarves and auctioned at the virtual event. I am grateful to Mrs. Clark for giving me this incredible opportunity.
This past summer, I had an exciting opportunity to meet with Mrs. Kiley Powell, Education Director at the Interfaith Food Pantry. She strives to educate and help raise awareness of food insecurity. Listen to her express the importance of our responsibility to fight food insecurity.
